Data Breach May affect Two Million People

A digital attack on a Massachusetts-based health care organization may have compromised the personal information of as many as 2 million people, officials said. Shields Health Care Group Inc., which provides imaging and ambulatory surgical services at dozens of locations, said in a notice on its website Tuesday that data including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and medical or treatment details is among the information that may have been compromised.

Unfortunately this type of attack is all too common these days. Multiple health care facilities in Boston, Massachusetts may have been the victim to a data breach. The information they said to have been leaked was the following: names, social security numbers, date of birth, and medical or treatment details for the patients. It is very important for everyone affected to contact the credit department to see if anything has hit your credit. Keep a close eye on all of your emails because you may have more spam emails populate – inputting information into those emails will give the hackers more information. Sometimes a regular email from these hackers will generally seem like the real deal, which makes it more believable to some people. That is why you have to have a separate junk folder where all unknown emails are sent from, never put vital/ valuable information into emails – such as passwords, bank account numbers, or personal information, and keep a close eye on your credit card statements for any fraudulent charges.
